Xreal Aura moves one step closer to reaching consumers. The company has started taking reservations for its Android XR-powered smart glasses developed in partnership with Google. Previously called Project Aura, the device represents an early example of Android XR running on hardware lighter than traditional headsets.

How Aura delivers spatial computing in glasses form

Xreal positions Aura as a portable spatial computing solution in a glasses-style package. Rather than a basic notification or recording device, Aura pairs lightweight glasses with a separate compute puck that handles processing and battery demands away from the face.

Bringing Gemini to a large floating interface

The glasses run Android XR and incorporate Gemini for contextual assistance. With user consent, Gemini can interpret the user's view along with on-screen and environmental details. Interaction happens through voice commands and multimodal inputs. Key specs include a 70-degree optical see-through display, electrochromic dimming, world-facing sensors, hand tracking, 6DoF tracking, and DP-in connectivity for PCs, laptops, or consoles.

Internally the system uses a dual-chip approach. The compute puck relies on Qualcomm's Snapdragon Reality Elite platform, while the glasses contain Xreal's X1S spatial coprocessor to manage low-latency display and sensor tasks.

Pricing and reservation details

Xreal states the base model will stay under 1,500 dollars, a figure below recent competitors yet still premium. Reservations are available immediately. A 99-dollar deposit secures a 199-dollar launch credit, netting 100 dollars in savings. The first 2,000 buyers can also purchase a 299-dollar Founder Pass that includes numbered units and launch-day delivery.

Release is targeted for Fall 2026, with exact pricing and configurations to be confirmed closer to launch.
