Xbox leaders have confirmed that the push toward console exclusives is only beginning. During a recent discussion with GamesRadar+, chief strategy officer Matthew Ball and chief content officer Matt Booty explained that two upcoming releases will remain exclusive to Xbox platforms, and additional projects are already planned.

Gears of War E-Day and Clockwork Revolution lead the way

Xbox Game Studios has launched sixteen first-party titles for the Series X, yet just three remained exclusive to the platform. Ball noted that this approach is changing, beginning with Gears of War E-Day arriving on October 6 and Clockwork Revolution scheduled for 2027.

Ball confirmed both titles will be permanent exclusives, not timed releases, and indicated more games will follow the same path without revealing further details at this stage.

Fable and Halo are still headed to other platforms

Some upcoming Xbox titles will continue to appear on multiple systems. Fable is planned for release on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X on February 23, 2027, while Halo Campaign Evolved will reach PS5 on July 28, marking the first mainline Halo game on PlayStation hardware.

Ball explained these decisions stem from prior agreements made with partners before the exclusivity focus shifted. Call of Duty and other live-service titles will also remain available across platforms due to binding commitments with Nintendo, PlayStation, and Steam tied to the Activision Blizzard acquisition, which extend through 2033.

Booty noted that the combination of exclusive and multiplatform releases has created confusion for players. To address this, Xbox will include a clear platform list with every future release announcement.

Buyers considering Xbox hardware can expect more exclusives ahead, though not every title will follow this route. Gears of War E-Day and Clockwork Revolution will stay off competing platforms, while several major releases will not. The distinction reflects earlier commitments rather than any reduced focus on exclusivity.
