It may soon allow users to set a custom password instead of the current numeric PIN. This change could improve account safety. WhatsApp Could Offer Major Upgrade to Two-Step Verification

According to reports from WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is developing a feature that enables replacing the two-step verification PIN with a full password. Currently, the service uses a six-digit numeric code for this purpose. The update would permit passwords with both letters and numbers, potentially boosting protection for those handling financial matters or sensitive information on the app.

Since two-step verification is optional, users who have not activated it should see no impact from this update. The feature is still in early development stages and not yet in beta testing. The company might modify or drop it prior to release.
