Here is everything applicants should understand.

What is Stripe x Startup Battlefield?

Startup Battlefield serves as TechCrunch's main pitch event, the platform that helped launch Dropbox, Cloudflare, Discord, and Trello. Alumni companies have collectively raised $32 billion and achieved more than 250 exits from over 1,700 ventures globally.

The Stripe x Startup Battlefield marks a new collaboration with Stripe, hosting the event in Sydney for a single evening. Eight Australian startups will be chosen to present live. Three receive prizes, and one advances to San Francisco.

Grand winner receives $15,000 in Stripe fee credits plus automatic entry into Startup Battlefield 200 at TechCrunch Disrupt, San Francisco, October 13-15, 2026.

Second place earns $5,000 in Stripe fee credits.

Third place receives $2,000 in Stripe fee credits.

All applicants, selected or not, gain an invitation to attend Stripe Tour Sydney on August 19.

What we look for and what will not hold you back

We seek the most promising ventures rather than the most refined ones. The key question for each submission is whether it creates genuine change.

Several factors will not disqualify applicants:

Existing press coverage will not harm chances. Local or industry mentions are acceptable if the core technology has not yet gained wide attention.

Customers are not required yet. A functional MVP is necessary, but revenue or a full launch is not.

Prior applications are fine. Many past Battlefield companies applied multiple times before selection. A previous rejection does not predict future results.

How to put together a strong application

Demonstrate the product in action. Provide a real MVP on video rather than mockups or deck screenshots, even if the version is early. This element matters most.

Be direct about competitors. Identifying rivals and explaining specific advantages reveals more about market insight than broad TAM estimates.

Explain the founding motivation. The story of what was observed, why the timing is right, and why the team is suited to build it helps evaluate founders. Many overlook this aspect.

Avoid overcomplicating the submission. A straightforward, honest entry that highlights a real product outperforms a glossy version that obscures the core idea.

The deadline is July 20. It will not move.

Applications close Monday, July 20, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. AEST. No extensions or waitlists exist. After closure, the only access to the stage is as an audience member.

If still considering an application, submit one. The least favorable result is a stronger submission later. The best result is a spot on the San Francisco stage in October.
