Tesla has announced that its 2026 Summer Release will begin rolling out shortly with a range of enhancements designed to make the vehicle feel more like an intelligent partner. The changes include an improved Grok assistant, a system that evaluates vocal performances, and several convenience upgrades for daily use.

Grok gains expanded in-car abilities

The voice assistant receives meaningful improvements that go beyond basic Tesla queries. Drivers can now instruct it to initiate phone calls, locate and stream music tracks, modify temperature controls, and open the glove compartment using spoken commands alone. These additions reduce screen interactions and help maintain attention on the road ahead.

Beyond the updated Grok functions, the package introduces entertainment and customization options. Karaoke sessions conducted while parked now receive automatic scores, with top results stored in the driver profile for easy reference later.

Route planning becomes more intuitive as well. The system will propose paths drawn from typical driving patterns in addition to saved locations and calendar items. It also favors familiar roads over purely time-based alternatives when appropriate.

Further refinements include the ability to view and share autonomous driving data directly in the smartphone application, remotely configure target battery levels upon arrival, and transmit personalized exterior designs to the vehicle without any USB connection. A new rear screen lock prevents unintended changes to other settings during playback.

Smaller additions round out the update. Supercharger locations can be searched by name, Apple Music tracks can be queued from artist pages, visualization zoom levels are adjustable, and the in-car browser supports camera and microphone access. Model 3 and Model Y vehicles receive a refreshed startup animation. The collection of changes should noticeably improve ownership satisfaction over time.
