With prices climbing on many fronts, major wireless carriers have rolled out fresh offerings aimed at customers looking to ease the burden of what many view as a must-have service. In recent months, AT&T debuted its customizable Build-A-Plan, and Verizon trimmed rates before unveiling its Simplicity plan.

T-Mobile is now stepping forward with its own updates.

Beginning Thursday, the carrier rolls out a new device payment option, rebrands its unlimited wireless offerings, and introduces student-focused plans that include the chance to add 5G home internet service.

An extended phone payment option

At present, T-Mobile customers buying a new phone can pay in full or spread costs over 24 months. The new Equipment Installment Plan Flex 36 lets buyers extend those payments across 36 months, which lowers the monthly total.

What sets EIP Flex 36 apart from the existing EIP Standard plan (still available as EIP Standard 36) is that every upfront expense gets folded into the three-year schedule, covering the device, taxes, and fees, so there is no initial outlay. Most zero-percent finance arrangements still require customers to cover taxes on the phone price plus an activation fee.

T-Mobile states that the EIP Flex 36 choice for well-qualified customers carries, for a limited time, 0 percent APR. It remains unclear whether interest rates could rise later in the term; when asked for details, a company representative repeated the lower monthly payment benefit but did not clarify any future interest timeline.

Going ahead, new customers will select either a 36-month EIP plan or pay the full device price. Early payoff remains possible at any point.

2.0 unlimited plans that largely mirror prior versions

In software terms, a full-number version jump signals a substantial shift rather than minor adjustments. That is why an iPhone update might move from iOS 26.6, focused on fixes and security, to iOS 27.0, which brings major additions such as Siri AI and arrives in September.

Alongside EIP Flex 36, T-Mobile is shifting its unlimited postpaid plans to 2.0 editions: Experience Beyond 2.0, Experience More 2.0, and Essentials 2.0. The budget Essentials Saver plan will receive the same update, though it was not highlighted in the announcement.

Still, the 2.0 label mainly aligns the plans with the new 36-month financing choices. Core features and base pricing stay unchanged from the prior Experience Beyond, Experience More, and Essentials plans.

T-Mobile notes that existing customers can remain on their current plans or move to the 2.0 versions to access the longer financing term.

Student Perks plans

With August here and the school year approaching, college students and their families are preparing essentials, including phone service. T-Mobile now offers Student Perks discounts that start at $30 monthly for the Essentials Saver plan when AutoPay is active. No more than two students may share an account.

For those living off campus and needing reliable internet for late-night study, T-Mobile provides a Student Perks bundle that includes 5G Home Internet for $30 a month. The offer also supplies up to $200 in virtual prepaid card credit upon signup.
