Families in the US can now create supervised Spotify accounts for their children without needing a premium family plan, since the streaming service has extended this feature to every subscription level. The company revealed the change on Wednesday, making free managed accounts available immediately to all users and adding the yearly Wrapped summary for younger listeners.

Any parent with an active Spotify plan can generate a free managed profile for their child. These accounts focus solely on music and omit podcasts along with video material. The feature is live in the US, UK, France, Australia, Germany and the Netherlands, with further expansion planned for Canada, additional European markets and South America. Parents gain oversight while reclaiming their own playlists, suggestions and Wrapped reports.

Spotify product lead Barry Nevin noted during a press preview that removing the cost barrier opens managed accounts to young listeners worldwide and delivers equal access for every family seeking accounts for their children.

Young users receive a tailored experience that lets them select favorite artists to shape recommendations, plus Discover Weekly and daily mixes such as Homework Vibes. Default settings block videos, Canvas artwork, explicit tracks and messaging. Profiles rely on avatars instead of photos and remain private and unsearchable.

To create an account, users navigate to the profile section on the home screen, choose Add a child under 13 and complete the setup. Parents can adjust filters or block specific songs and artists. The service first introduced these accounts in 2024 for listeners under 13 in select regions, initially limited to paid family plans, before broadening availability over the following two years.
