Music streaming platform Spotify is introducing enhanced AI assistant functions that enable users to pose contextual inquiries regarding the material they are enjoying. Users can engage in interactive dialogues with Spotify concerning songs, podcasts and audiobooks through this capability currently being tested by select beta participants.

A demonstration video from Spotify displays an input field centrally located in the test version of the app, marked as "Ask for some music" or "Talk to Spotify," permitting queries such as "how many times have I listened to Bad Bunny?"

During evaluation of this addition, CNET encountered a cautionary note stating, "You're about to talk to AI, which can make mistakes. Don't share sensitive data."

Although every music streaming platform employs algorithms for content recommendations, Spotify has embraced AI innovations extensively lately, featuring an AI DJ, AI playlists and an AI spam filter targeting deepfaked and deceptive material. At the same time, Apple offers its Playlist Playground AI capability.

Spotify did not promptly reply to CNET's inquiry seeking details about the new addition.

The Talk to Spotify option is being introduced in beta to qualifying Premium subscribers who are 18 years or older located in the US, Ireland and Sweden, available on iOS and Android.
