SpaceX has surpassed Amazon to rank as the fifth most valuable company worldwide. Its shares rose 20 percent on Monday and gained more than 8 percent in early Tuesday trading, lifting the valuation above $2.7 trillion.

These gains occurred even though Amazon posted a $78 billion profit in 2025 on $717 billion in revenue last year, while SpaceX reported a $4.9 billion loss on $18.7 billion in sales. SpaceX has introduced fresh income sources through compute leasing agreements with Anthropic and Google, and its valuation has risen by $1 trillion since the public listing on Friday.

The Tuesday share price increase followed SpaceX's announcement of an all-stock acquisition of AI coding startup Cursor valued at $60 billion. The company first disclosed a partnership with Cursor in April, when CEO Elon Musk noted that his AI firm xAI, now integrated into SpaceX, was not built correctly the first time and required rebuilding from the ground up.

SpaceX's landmark IPO opened at a valuation near $1.7 trillion and generated nearly $86 billion in proceeds for the company. Only about 4 percent of total shares were offered for trading, a move experts said could lead to sharp price fluctuations.
