Sony quietly verified last month that it would stop creating PC versions of its first-party single-player games. The company has now deleted references to the PC platform from a regulatory filing submitted to the US Securities and Exchange Commission last week, effectively confirming the new direction.

Game File noticed the revision in Sony's latest SEC submission on Friday. The firm removed the paragraph discussing its PC strategy that appeared in the previous year's filing. The document outlines plans for the Game and Network Services division along with other business segments. According to Game File, the 2025 version included a statement about releasing titles across multiple platforms.

“Sony plans to continue its efforts to deploy its first-party titles to multiple platforms such as PC.” This sentence no longer appears in the 2026 filing, which formalizes the reported change in PlayStation's approach to PC releases.

Sony Returns Focus to PS5 Exclusives

Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier disclosed earlier this year that Sony intended to stop releasing its first-party single-player games on PC and instead keep them exclusive to PlayStation hardware.

Last month, the company communicated this updated policy to employees during an internal meeting. PlayStation Studios CEO Hermen Hulst explained the return to exclusive releases at a town hall session in May. Hulst informed staff that narrative-driven single-player games developed by first-party studios would once again launch solely on PlayStation systems.

Titles such as Sucker Punch's Ghost of Yotei, released last year, and Housemarque's Saros, released in April, will stay exclusive to PS5. Future projects including Marvel's Wolverine by Insomniac Games, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet by Naughty Dog, and God of War Laufey by Santa Monica Studio are also expected to remain PS5-only.

Nevertheless, Sony intends to keep releasing live-service and multiplayer games on additional platforms. Marathon, the extraction shooter from Bungie, launched simultaneously on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series consoles in March. The upcoming Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, developed by Arc System Works, is scheduled to arrive on PS5 and PC on August 6, 2026.

Over the past several years, Sony has brought numerous first-party games to PC following their console debuts. Series such as God of War, The Last of Us, and Marvel's Spider-Man reached PC, with Nixxes Software handling most of the conversion work.
