Shokz has revealed two updated versions of its open-style earbuds. Building on the OpenDots One introduced in May 2025, the new Shokz OpenDots 2 and OpenDots Air clip onto the back of the ear, directing sound into the ear canal without sealing it off. This setup aims to deliver greater comfort and awareness of the surrounding environment compared to standard wireless earbuds, with each model tailored to different user preferences.

The OpenDots Air serve as an affordable option in black or daybreak purple, priced at $129.95, which is more than $70 less than the prior model. They incorporate Shokz next-generation Bassphere acoustic design with custom 11.8mm drivers on each side and an optimized diaphragm for enhanced bass response, volume, and overall clarity. Users can adjust sound through custom EQ settings in the companion app, along with preset modes that boost voices for podcasts or reduce high frequencies for private listening in calm settings.

These earbuds offer up to nine hours of playback, extending to 36 hours when paired with the charging case. While lacking active noise cancellation, they employ AI to minimize background sounds on calls. Dynamic ear detection allows either bud to be worn on any side, as the system automatically identifies orientation.

At just 6.3 grams each, the OpenDots Air are the lightest option, though the $199.95 OpenDots 2 weigh only slightly more at 6.4 grams per bud and add extra capabilities. Offered in pearl white, gray, or black, the OpenDots 2 share the dual-driver setup but include Dolby Audio support. An added bone-conduction microphone helps isolate the wearer's voice during calls for clearer conversations.

The OpenDots 2 deliver 10 hours of use on their own or 40 hours with the case, which supports Qi wireless charging. Both models utilize Bluetooth 6.1 for simultaneous connections to two devices and include app-based tracking within Bluetooth range. The OpenDots 2 further integrate with Google Find Hub to show last-known locations even when out of range.
