As the festive period arrives, shoppers across India are actively seeking their preferred gadgets. Although higher component expenses and supply-chain hurdles continue to challenge the electronics sector, BenQ India reports solid expansion compared to the prior year. The firm targets Rs 1,000 crore in revenue by 2026, supported by gains in both business-to-business and business-to-consumer areas. Gadgets 360 interviewed Rajeev Singh, Managing Director of BenQ India and South Asia, covering growth strategies, effects of global tensions, changes in segment demand, and rising interest in home projectors. The discussion also addressed suitable projector pricing, regional patterns, the potential for projectors to rival conventional TVs, and BenQ's emphasis on creator-focused monitors. Select replies were condensed and clarified for readability.

How are Middle East tensions and component shortages affecting BenQ's supply chain and costs?

Tensions in the Middle East have not impacted operations to date, and significant effects are not anticipated. An extra month of inventory has been maintained as a precaution. Stock levels have risen from 30-40 days to 60-70 days, with certain items reaching 90 days. At the same time, heightened hardware needs driven by AI have led to shortages in memory, processors, and PCBs, resulting in higher prices. The PCB shortfall now touches all electronic goods, creating an ongoing challenge that the company is addressing.

How is BenQ's business split between B2B and B2C, and which segment is driving growth in 2026?

B2B and B2C are each projected to contribute around Rs 500 crore in 2026. The prior year showed a 60:40 split favoring B2C. Government education projects faced delays last year due to funding shifts toward defense, affecting the B2B portion. Recovery is underway this year, though not yet at expected levels. B2C is expanding about 30 percent while B2B grows near 50 percent, shifting the overall balance.

Which region in India is the biggest market for BenQ in terms of projectors?
In India, the South accounts for 39 percent of projector demand. Buyers in this area tend to be more technology-oriented and open to mid-range and premium options, with stronger purchasing power and a preference for larger screens. Movie-related interest peaks in Hyderabad and Andhra Pradesh, while technology adoption stands out in Karnataka, especially Bengaluru. Kerala also shows strength, where BenQ leads in monitors.

What is a realistic budget for a good home projector, and what should consumers expect at different price points?
A capable projector can be obtained in the Rs 50,000 to 70,000 range. Lower-priced models around Rs 10,000 to 20,000 exist but often fall short on performance. DLP laser projectors in the recommended bracket deliver improved results and light-source longevity up to 50,000 hours. BenQ's TH575i and GV50 models fall within this segment. Newer units feature easier setup with automatic alignment and obstacle correction for everyday convenience.

Do you think projectors will replace TVs in India in the coming years?
This shift is expected to occur across several segments and is already visible at entry level. Affordable projectors in the Rs 10,000 to 20,000 range draw first-time buyers from middle-income households. Users accustomed to larger projected images may prefer them over traditional TVs and later upgrade to DLP models around Rs 60,000 to 70,000. Projectors use reflected light, which many find less straining for extended viewing such as long sports events, while supporting screen sizes of 120 or 150 inches from a comfortable distance.

How important is the creator economy to BenQ, and how are its monitors designed for content creators?
The creator economy holds significant value. Dedicated monitors serve YouTubers, Instagrammers, and professional photographers, covering the full workflow from editing to upload. They provide precise color accuracy so that edited visuals match the intended output when published.
