Many fitness devices now aim to serve as personal health coaches. The trend began with products such as Whoop, Oura Ring, and UltraHuman. Google recently entered the space with its Fitbit Air, and Samsung is following suit with a substantial update to its own platform.

The company will release a major Samsung Health update on June 8 that arrives alongside its upcoming Galaxy Watch. The changes aim to make the watch a proactive companion that reviews biometric information and offers practical next steps.

Key additions in the new update

The standout feature is called Vitals. Each morning the tool reviews five overnight readings - heart rate, heart rate variability, respiratory rate, skin temperature, and blood oxygen - and compares them with the user baseline. Users receive a notification only when a reading shows a meaningful shift.

Samsung is also retiring the Vascular Load metric and introducing a Heart Health Score. This single daily number combines sleep, stress, activity, and body composition data to show long-term heart health trends at a glance.

Active users gain Daily Cardio Load, which measures total cardiovascular effort and suggests when to train harder or take rest. The Fitness Index adds context by comparing VO2 max and daily steps with similar users, highlighting strengths and weaknesses while adjusting goals accordingly.

Further improvements and new tools

The Samsung Health home screen receives a refreshed design organized around five sections: Sleep, Activity, Nutrition, Mindfulness, and Vitals. Daily wellness suggestions and the Energy Score now appear prominently.

A new Hearing Health tool tracks surrounding noise levels during the day and supplies personalized guidance to help preserve hearing. Samsung states that the full set of features will reach their potential with the next generation of Galaxy Watches, due to launch soon.
