Samsung plans to hold its Galaxy Unpacked event on July 22 in London. Expectations are high for the introduction of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 with its wide screen, and the Galaxy Z Flip 8. Ahead of the launch, fresh reports indicate Samsung has adjusted its manufacturing approach to emphasize the passport-style foldable device. Greater attention is being given to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 featuring a broad display. The company intends to produce 2.8 million units of this model, surpassing the numbers for the Ultra and Flip variants.

Samsung Revises Its Foldable Manufacturing Tactics

ET News, drawing from industry insiders, states that Samsung will create 2.8 million units of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 annually, exceeding the goals set for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra and Galaxy Z Flip 8. The Ultra model may see 2 million units produced, with the Flip 8 targeted at 1.5 million units.

These updated numbers reflect a notable change from prior plans that distributed production more evenly across the Z Fold 8 and Z Fold 8 Ultra.

Samsung annual foldable shipments range from 5 to 6 million units. Last year, they exceeded 6 million thanks to robust performance of the Galaxy Z Fold 7. This year output is projected to be between 5.5 million and 6 million units.

The company is set to refresh its foldable offerings. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra will follow the Galaxy Z Fold 7 as a traditional book-style device. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 introduces a wide-folding form resembling a passport, with a 5.5-inch cover display at 16:10 ratio and a 7.6-inch inner AMOLED screen at 4:3, both supporting 120Hz refresh rates.

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is anticipated to cost less than the Ultra version and may feature a dual rear camera setup rather than the triple cameras on the Ultra.

Samsung has confirmed the Galaxy Unpacked event for July 22 in London, starting at 2pm BST (6:30pm IST). Unveilings will include the new foldables, Galaxy Watch 9 series, and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2.
