Samsung is expected to unveil its next foldable smartphones during the Galaxy Unpacked event scheduled for July. A reliable source has shared new information on the upcoming clamshell foldable commonly referred to as the Galaxy Z Flip 8. The company appears set to follow a dual chipset approach for this model, much like the strategy seen in the Galaxy S26 series. This means the Galaxy Z Flip 8 could feature different processors based on the specific market.

Tipster Lanzuk shared details via a post on the Korean platform Naver indicating that Samsung intends to release the Galaxy Z Flip 8 in two processor configurations. The device is expected to come with either the Exynos 2600 or Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy chipset, varying by region.

Both processors represent top tier mobile technology. The Exynos 2600 serves as Samsung own 2nm chip that drives the Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26+ across many regions including India. Meanwhile the 3nm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy powers the premium Galaxy S26 Ultra model.

This shift stems from increased manufacturing expenses tied to the Exynos 2600. Qualcomm has provided Samsung with more competitive rates for its flagship processor, encouraging the firm to adjust its plans for the new foldable device.

Should this hold true, it would represent a change from the Galaxy Z Flip 7, which relied solely on Samsung Exynos 2500 chip. The source did not detail exact regional allocations, though historical patterns show Snapdragon versions typically going to markets such as South Korea and the United States, with Exynos models serving other areas.

The Exynos 2600 comes from Samsung Foundry and was introduced in December 2025 as the first 2nm processor using advanced GAA technology. It integrates CPU, GPU, and NPU elements to support better AI features and gaming. The chip includes a 10 core CPU reaching up to 3.8GHz clock speed.

Samsung highlights gains over the Exynos 2500, including 113 percent better generative AI performance and as much as 50 percent improved ray tracing capabilities.
