The Redmi Note 17 series made its appearance in China recently with two models including the Redmi Note 17 and Note 17 Pro. Although the Xiaomi sub-brand has not shared details on global availability rumors now point to an India launch for the Redmi Note 17 in the near future. A tipster indicates the smartphone could reach the country next month. It remains unclear if the Note 17 Pro will also arrive in India.

Tipster Abhishek Yadav shared on X that the Redmi Note 17 will launch in India on August 6. Drawing from unnamed sources the tipster noted that the Indian edition may include some differences compared to the China model now on sale.

The Redmi Note 17 series debuted in China earlier this week featuring the Redmi Note 17 and Redmi Note 17 Pro. The standard Redmi Note 17 includes a 7-inch Full-HD+ (1080x2396 pixels) OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and runs on Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 SoC. It offers up to 12GB RAM and up to 512GB storage while operating on HyperOS 3 based on Android 16.

The device comes with a 50-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel selfie camera. It includes an 8000mAh battery with 45W wired fast charging support. Additional features include an in-display fingerprint sensor stereo speakers NFC an IR blaster and an IP66-rated build.

The Redmi Note 17 Pro offers a 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 chipset. It supports up to 12GB RAM and up to 512GB storage along with a 9000mAh battery featuring 67W wired fast charging and 22.5W reverse wired charging. The handset has a 50-megapixel primary rear camera IP66 IP68 IP69 and IP69K ratings and runs HyperOS 3 based on Android 16.

Recent reports suggest the Redmi Note 17 may appear as a Poco-branded variant in India possibly as the Poco M8 Power. Xiaomi has not confirmed the India launch date or shared any teasers at this time.
