Redmi may soon broaden its affordable 5G smartphone range via the Redmi 17C 5G, as indicated by a fresh benchmark entry. The device is anticipated to serve as the follow-up to the Redmi 15C 5G, introduced in India during December 2025. Although Xiaomi has yet to confirm the handset, recent findings point to notable overlaps with a prior Redmi model. Prior coverage has also outlined several anticipated hardware and software features before any formal unveiling.

A Geekbench entry reveals the Redmi 17C 5G under the codename Tornado. This identifier was earlier connected to the Redmi 15C 5G and Poco C85 5G, implying the new phone might launch as a rebranded edition of the Redmi 15C 5G instead of a fresh design.

The benchmark results list the Redmi 17C 5G achieving a single-core score of 729 and a multi-core score of 1,692 on Geekbench 6.7.1. Details show an eight-core chipset featuring two performance cores at 2.40GHz alongside six efficiency cores at 2.00GHz. This setup matches MediaTek's Dimensity 6300 processor. The entry also notes 4GB of RAM in the tested unit.

Previous reports indicate the Redmi 17C 5G may include a 6.9-inch HD LCD screen. It is further expected to carry a 50-megapixel main rear camera paired with a depth sensor, while an 8-megapixel front camera would manage selfies and video calls.

The Redmi 17C 5G is projected to house a 6,000mAh battery supporting 33W fast charging. The benchmark suggests the phone could launch with Android 16 preinstalled alongside Xiaomi's HyperOS interface. In contrast, the Redmi 15C 5G arrived running Android 15.

The Redmi 17C 5G is projected to reach global markets and India, though its presence in China stays uncertain. Xiaomi has not disclosed pricing, yet the Redmi 15C 5G launched in India at Rs. 12,499 for the entry-level 4GB plus 128GB variant, suggesting the successor could target a comparable range.
