OnePlus 16 is anticipated to arrive later this year as the follow-up to the OnePlus 15. Although the company has not shared any official details yet, earlier reports pointed toward a possible September debut. A new tip now suggests the brand has settled on an October launch instead. The same leak highlights expected features such as a 6.78-inch flat display and a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro processor inside.

OnePlus 16 Launch Timeline and Expected Specifications

Tipster Digital Chat Station shared new information about an engineering prototype of the OnePlus 16 on Weibo. The post indicates the company is unlikely to introduce a major design change for its next flagship. Instead, it may continue with the design approach seen on the current OnePlus 15 model.

This means the device is also expected to keep the compact square camera module first introduced on the OnePlus 15. While full camera details are still unknown, prior reports point to testing with a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto lens offering 3x optical zoom. A dedicated AI button could also be included.

Inside, the handset is expected to use Qualcomm's upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset. The same processor is slated to appear in several other Android flagships launching later this year, including the iQOO 16. The OnePlus 16 is also tipped to feature a 9000mAh battery, aligning with earlier information.

The tipster added that the OnePlus 16 is currently set for an October debut. This differs from a previous report from the same source that suggested both the OnePlus 16 and iQOO 16 could launch in September. In response to comments, the tipster noted an October launch for the iQOO 16 remains possible as well.

While the China launch is scheduled for October, another report has indicated the flagship may skip the Indian market.
