Samsung has set its next Galaxy Unpacked showcase for July 22, where the company is expected to reveal its latest foldable devices. Earlier reports pointed to notable price increases for these models in Europe compared to prior versions. A fresh leak now suggests US buyers could face similar adjustments.

US pricing may rise by $100

South Korean publication SEDaily reports that the standard Galaxy Z Fold 8 model, also referred to as the Wide Fold, is slated to start at $1,899 for the 256GB version in the US. The higher-end Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, which follows the Fold 7, could launch at $2,099 for the same storage tier. This represents a $100 increase from the Fold 7 launch price of $1,999.

The figures align with prior European leaks that listed the base 256GB Ultra model at 2,199 euros, reflecting a 100-euro rise over the previous generation. While the SEDaily account does not specify costs for higher storage options, those variants are anticipated to see larger increases.

The upward adjustment appears linked to ongoing memory supply constraints, although Samsung is said to be performing a final review of its pricing strategy. As a result, the numbers could change ahead of the July 22 unveiling.

Enhanced AI tools and One UI 9.0 may offset the added cost

To support the higher prices, Samsung is focusing on software improvements across the new lineup. The Galaxy Z Fold 8, Fold 8 Ultra, and Flip 8 are expected to be the first devices to ship with One UI 9.0 and Gemini Intelligence, Google's advanced AI platform capable of handling tasks across multiple applications.

The report omits specific pricing for the Flip 8 but echoes previous accounts indicating the device may use a Qualcomm processor in certain markets and Samsung's Exynos chip in others. Samsung has not issued official confirmation, so these details should be viewed cautiously until the July 22 event.
