Motorola introduced the Moto Pad 70, a fresh mid-range Android tablet featuring a sizable screen, stylus compatibility, 5G support, and a robust battery pack.

The device is set to debut in India on August 8 via Flipkart. Its 12.1-inch 2.5K panel, bundled Moto Pen, 10,200mAh cell, and 68W fast charging provide several draws for those eyeing Apple’s entry-level iPad. Still, the mid-tier Dimensity 6400 chip suggests it will fall short of the iPad in outright speed.

Could it serve as a budget-friendly iPad rival?

Motorola focuses on value instead of top-tier processing. The 12.1-inch display exceeds the size of Apple’s standard iPad, and brightness up to 800 nits plus broad DCI-P3 color support should suit streaming, reading, and light creative tasks.

Performance remains the Pad 70’s main shortfall

The Dimensity 6400 handles browsing, streaming, video calls, note-taking, and routine multitasking without issue. It will lag behind Apple silicon in intensive gaming, video editing, advanced creative software, and heavier tasks.

Motorola promises just two major Android updates, though security patches run through 2030. The Moto Pad 70 mirrors the Lenovo Idea Tab Plus released last September near 300 euros. Pricing in India tends to sit below straight currency conversion, letting Motorola place it well under the base iPad.

At a competitive cost, the large display, included stylus, 5G, and rapid charging may offset the performance gap. It remains unclear whether the firm intends to release the tablet beyond India.
