God of War Laufey, unveiled during State of Play in June, reaches players on February 16, 2027, according to confirmations from Sony and Santa Monica Studio. The story centers on Laufey, Kratos' spouse in the Norse arc, yet Santa Monica has also disclosed work on a separate God of War project that features Kratos.

The news surfaced at a San Diego Comic-Con panel on Friday that brought together game director Ariel Lawrence, voice cast members, and studio creative head Cory Barlog.

State of Play introduced the title with a 20-minute gameplay segment. The extended footage combined with Sony's active social media promotion led many fans to anticipate a near-term release, and Santa Monica described the game as arriving soon on PS5.

The timeline is indeed brief. God of War Laufey launches exclusively on PS5 on February 16, 2027. No follow-up trailer accompanied the date announcement, and details on pricing, editions, or pre-orders are still pending, though the game can be added to a PlayStation Store wishlist.

At the panel Barlog, director of the 2018 God of War reboot, confirmed Santa Monica is creating a new God of War title starring Kratos that will link narratively to God of War Laufey. He noted the franchise continues to move in exciting directions.

A release window for the Kratos-centered game has not been shared. Additional information is expected once Sony formally unveils the project.

God of War Laufey becomes the first mainline entry without Kratos as protagonist. It instead follows Laufey into Everywhen, the gods' afterlife, after her passing in God of War (2018). The setting introduces an afterlife realm populated by deities drawn from multiple mythologies.

Deborah Ann Woll voices Laufey while Jack Quaid lends his voice to Phranque, the magical companion cube. Ariel Lawrence directs the game, which arrives solely on PS5 on February 16, 2027.
