Samsung has launched the Galaxy Watch 9, which features more than just a fresh name. The device includes an updated processor and increased battery sizes, particularly for the compact model.

Pre-orders for the Galaxy Watch 9 open in the United States on July 22, 2026, with wider availability set for August 7, 2026.

What changes stand out?

The Watch 9 comes in the standard 40mm and 44mm sizes at $379.99 for the Bluetooth edition and $429.99 for the LTE version, reflecting a $30 increase from the prior launch price. The Bluetooth model appears in Cream and Graphite finishes, while the LTE option is offered in Graphite and Silver.

Battery improvements vary by size. The 40mm model rises from 325mAh to 390mAh, delivering a clear 20 percent gain that users should notice. The 44mm model sees only a small step from 435mAh to 445mAh, though its endurance was already strong. Peak brightness stays at 3,000 nits, so prior owners gain no display boost. Memory and storage remain unchanged at 2GB and 32GB despite the new chipset.

All existing sensors carry over, including the BioActive Sensor, temperature sensor, accelerometer, and ambient light sensor. Water resistance holds at 5 ATM plus IP68, and MIL-STD-810H durability certification is added.

Price increase confirmed by earlier reports

New Sports, Misty, and Fabric band choices join the accessories, along with two-month trial offers for Strava and iFIT that may support early sales. The Watch 9 proves more capable than initial rumors suggested, yet the higher price could deter some shoppers.

Samsung's steady price growth appears consistent, having climbed $50 from Watch 7 to Watch 8 and another $30 now, totaling $80 across two years. The shift also signals that Samsung prefers Qualcomm silicon for AI duties over its own Exynos designs.
