Observers have labeled these as front operations that promote or bring in items closely associated with the Chinese drone manufacturer under alternate names.

Potential closure of indirect sales channels for DJI

Among the targeted firms are XTRA, which offers accessories and cameras aimed at creators, and Skyrover, connected to DJI drones. Additional companies listed include Cogito Tech, Fixaxo Technology, Lyno Dynamics, Skyhigh Tech, Spatial Hover, SZ Knowact, and WaveGo Tech.

The FCC contacted these businesses earlier in the year to check if they were offering radio equipment under current limitations. None replied, leading the agency to impose financial sanctions. This situation carries implications for buyers, as it may limit access to items powered by DJI technology. The FCC continues to impose stricter rules on Chinese telecom and drone makers due to security issues. It recently broadened its Covered List with more foreign drone firms, complicating certification for wireless sales.

Effects could extend to non-drone DJI products

The scope of these regulations extends further than drones alone. Any device using wireless components from listed companies, such as vlogging cameras, might encounter similar barriers. This matters because DJI produces items like the Osmo Pocket lineup and wireless creator tools that rival Insta360 and GoPro.

Furthermore, certain FCC certification records for the DJI Osmo Pocket 4 Pro and XTRA items have been removed from public view. Whether this relates directly to the current measures remains uncertain, but revoked approvals would hinder US market entry. Current DJI devices will continue functioning normally. Still, upcoming releases relying on DJI tech may struggle more to enter the US market, a development worth monitoring for creators and enthusiasts alike.
