Bose has officially introduced the QuietComfort Headphones (2nd Gen), verifying most of the details that emerged from recent leaks. The updated model features a streamlined design, enhanced noise cancellation, lossless USB-C audio support, and Bose Immersive Audio modes that were previously exclusive to the pricier QuietComfort Ultra lineup.

Preorders begin August 8 via Bose and select retailers for $359, which is just $10 above the 2023 model’s initial price. Deliveries start August 13. Black and White Smoke options return, joined by three limited-edition colors named Eucalyptus Green, Dewdrop Mint, and Rosewood Mauve.

Bose Immersive Audio expands to the standard lineup

The key upgrade is TrueSpatial Technology, which extends Bose’s Still, Motion, and Cinema listening modes to the regular QuietComfort headphones. Still Mode relies on head tracking to hold audio steady as the user turns their head. Motion Mode preserves the broad soundstage while allowing it to move with the listener, suiting activities like walking or commuting. Cinema Mode targets movies, shows, and podcasts by spreading background sounds wider while centering dialogue for clearer listening.

The USB-C port now enables lossless wired playback up to 24-bit/48kHz along with two-way audio that supports voice during Zoom or Microsoft Teams calls. The headphones also include Bluetooth 5.4, multipoint connectivity, and Google Fast Pair support.

Noise cancellation adapts to imperfect seals

Bose names its latest ANC system QuietControl. This six-microphone array uses new adaptive controls to offset gaps around the earcups from glasses, hair, or hats that would otherwise reduce noise blocking. ActiveSense has been refined for Aware Mode, applying noise cancellation more gradually during sudden loud noises like a passing train instead of creating an abrupt shift. Users can still tweak ANC manually or build custom modes in the Bose app.

The design includes a wider headband with added synthetic leather padding, while the new oval earcups form a smoother overall shape. Bose keeps physical controls on both sides, including a dedicated action button for switching listening modes and triggering shortcuts.

Battery life stays at 24 hours, dropping to 18 hours with Immersive Audio active. A 15-minute charge delivers up to 2.5 hours of playback, and the headphones support charging while in use.
