Apple introduced the HomeView smart display last week, equipped with a 7-inch Liquid Retina screen along with Siri AI capabilities and facial recognition features. Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman now reports that the company is developing an upgraded version of this smart home device that includes a robotic arm. The new model is expected to include a bigger screen and carries the internal codename J595.

Apple developing a premium HomeView

In his latest Power On newsletter, Mark Gurman revealed that Apple is creating an enhanced HomeView hub. The premium device, codenamed J595, is said to feature an approximately 9-inch display compared to the current 7-inch Liquid Retina screen on the existing model.

The upcoming version is expected to keep the overall design similar while adding the larger display and a motorized arm for screen rotation. Unlike the current HomeView, which cannot swivel on its own, the new model aims to solve this by automatically turning toward users. It can already identify individuals and deliver tailored responses, yet the present version requires people to approach the screen or manually adjust its position.

The robotic arm on the future HomeView is projected to allow full 360-degree rotation, enabling the screen to turn automatically toward the speaker. Voice recognition will identify users and adjust the display orientation accordingly. Gurman suggests this enhanced HomeView could launch in 2027 or 2028.

Apple has not confirmed a final name for the higher-end model. Gurman suggests possible options such as HomeView Max, HomeView Ultra, or HomeView 360. The device is expected to sit above the current HomeView in the company's smart home product range.

The company released the original HomeView in India this month at a price of Rs. 39,900. It is available in Silver, Starlight, Rose Pink, and Space Grey finishes. In the US, it is priced at $299 (roughly Rs. 28,000).
