Anthropic plans to permanently boost the standard weekly usage limits for Claude Code by 25 percent across Pro, Max, Team, and seat-based Enterprise plans. However, this adjustment comes with a catch that results in lower access than currently available.

Users of Claude are effectively facing a 17 percent decrease relative to present allowances.

Claude Code is benefiting from a temporary 50 percent elevation in weekly limits, set to continue until September 14.

"Beginning September 14, we are permanently elevating standard weekly limits in Claude Code by 25 percent for Pro, Max, Team, and seat-based Enterprise plans," Anthropic stated on X. "The existing 50 percent increase will stay active until that date."

This phrasing presents the change positively, yet it represents a net reduction for customers.

Assuming an original weekly limit of 100 units, the temporary enhancement provides 150 at present. After September 14, this falls to 125.

Essentially, users gain 25 percent more Claude Code usage compared to pre-promotion levels, but experience roughly 17 percent less than current amounts.

Anthropic Announces Upcoming Adjustments to Claude Code Usage

The company removed the initial post and issued a follow-up that acknowledges the cut.

"Relative to current levels, this equates to a 17 percent decrease in weekly limits on Claude Code," the firm noted.

"We are developing innovative updates that will enhance the value users receive from Claude, along with improved transparency and management of usage. We look forward to revealing these soon."

Anthropic explains that Claude usage depends on elements such as conversation duration, selected model, tool application, and effort intensity, meaning the weekly quota does not correspond to a set quantity of Claude Code prompts.

The temporary 50 percent boost stays in effect through September 13, after which the updated permanent limits begin on September 14.
