Whenever a new browser, email client, or note app launches, I usually install it immediately. As a productivity enthusiast, I am always hunting for the ideal setup. This habit introduced me to Quiche Browser. It was already close to replacing Arc Search on my iPhone, but the newest update has made it my default choice.

What makes Quiche so good

Quiche Browser is built by solo developer Greg de J under Quiche Industries. Its main strength lies in customization. Nearly every control can be shifted, reordered, or deleted from the bottom toolbar and main menu. Those who prefer less tweaking can use the Toolbar Gallery for ready presets, enabling either a simple or feature-rich layout without manual effort.

The tab switcher also excels. Tabs appear in grid or list views. Quiche estimates reading time for articles and shows it under each tab title. Tabs can be grouped by domain or sorted by read time, giving the browser a read-later quality when desired.

One standout option is the JavaScript toggle placed in the toolbar. A single tap disables JavaScript on the current site, often making pages load faster and appear cleaner.

The feature that sealed the deal

These qualities alone would support a recommendation, yet the latest change truly stood out. Quiche now turns off AI overviews in search results by default from the start.

Using Google, DuckDuckGo, Bing, or other engines sends users to the version without AI summaries. No content blocker is required. The result is an authentic list of links without a large AI summary appearing first.
