Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni departed his post-match news conference in tears as he discussed his future after Sunday's World Cup final defeat against Spain.

At 48 years old, Scaloni aimed to join an elite group as only the second coach to successfully defend the title, having led Argentina to victory in the 2022 tournament in Qatar.

However, the European champions Spain demonstrated their strength when Ferran Torres scored in extra time, securing a 1-0 win for Luis de la Fuente's team and adding to their European title.

With his contract set to end in December, Scaloni became emotional upon being questioned about what lies ahead.
