International success without club silverware

Current standout Nahuel Molina holds a World Cup, two Copa Américas and the Finalissima with Argentina yet zero club honours. Similar imbalances appear for Cristian Romero, Rodrigo De Paul and Gerónimo Rulli.

Australia claim unofficial world title

“Reports suggest Australia now hold unofficial world champion status,” writes Alf Mangle.

The title follows a long chain of results dating back to the 1870s. After Argentina exited following Qatar 2022, the crown passed through Uruguay, Côte d’Ivoire, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Algeria, Sweden, Kosovo and Turkey before Australia claimed it in June 2026.
