Keith Piper dies, aged 56

Sad news emerges from Edgbaston. Former Warwickshire wicketkeeper Keith Piper has passed away at 56 following illness. He featured in the 1994 treble-winning side and stood at the other end during Lara's 501.

Piper began at Haringey Cricket College, claimed over 500 dismissals in 200 matches, appeared in seven Lord's finals winning three, and secured two Championship titles plus the 1994 Sunday League. He ranked among the finest keepers of his era.

A four-month ban followed a 1997 positive test and he retired after another in 2005. He will be remembered fondly.

Rod Bransgrove steps down as chairman of Hampshire

Bransgrove who oversaw the move to the Rose Bowl and its growth has resigned following GMR Global Pte Ltd acquiring full ownership of Hampshire Sport and Leisure Holdings Limited. Kiran Kumar Grandhi assumes the role.

Bransgrove receives appointment as honorary life president.
