Wakefield Trinity powered to a convincing win over Castleford Tigers by running in nine tries and boosting their Super League top-four hopes at Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Daryl Powell's side moved up to third on 24 points after securing six victories in their previous seven matches.

Castleford struggled throughout and Wakefield capitalised fully as Cameron Scott, Tom Johnstone and Caleb Hamlin-Uele each touched down twice.

Lachlan Walmsley, Tyson Smoothy and Josh Rourke added Wakefield's remaining tries before Jason Qareqare crossed in the final minute to spare Castleford further embarrassment.

Wakefield looked sharp from the start and took an early lead when Walmsley gathered Jake Trueman's kick and passed for Scott to score in the right corner after three minutes.

Wakefield dominated proceedings and had two tries disallowed before Johnstone finished in the left corner during the 16th minute.

Hamlin-Uele entered from the bench to power through two tackles and score Wakefield's third try close to the posts.

Wakefield found scoring straightforward as Castleford repeatedly erred and missed 44 tackles in total.

Scott collected Jack Sinfield's pass and cut inside to claim his second try, extending the lead to 20-0.

Wakefield continued to enjoy themselves and Walmsley produced an acrobatic finish in the right corner after 47 minutes, pulling an Uno card from his sock to celebrate and make the score 24-0.

Wakefield's forwards joined the scoring when Smoothy drove through the defence to touch down by the posts on 51 minutes.

Hamlin-Uele claimed his second try with minimal resistance, strolling through two Castleford tackles to cross again.

Johnstone secured his second on 65 minutes after Wakefield moved the ball along the backline from a scrum, and Rourke finished Sinfield's kick to complete their ninth try ten minutes later.

Qareqare maintained his scoring form with his tenth try in seven games a minute from time, yet it offered little comfort to Castleford.
