Middlesex secured a commanding eight-wicket victory over Glamorgan in the Metro Bank Cup at Radlett after bowling out the Welsh side for just 66.

This marked their lowest total against Middlesex in List A cricket and stood as their fourth lowest ever.

Seamer Naavya Sharma (4-29) struck early on a challenging surface alongside Test bowler Toby Roland-Jones (3-35) before Noah Cornwell (3-1) completed the collapse.

Eddie Byrom's 29 proved the highest score as an inexperienced Glamorgan lineup surrendered their last nine wickets for only 22 runs.

Middlesex have now won their opening three matches in the competition, while Glamorgan hold one win from three.

The lineup adjustments pointed to a home advantage, yet few anticipated the one-sided nature of the contest that unfolded.

Middlesex brought back Roland-Jones in place of Jack Nelson, while Glamorgan handed debuts to two seamers - 18-year-old academy graduate Tom Edwards and Australian Connor O'Riordan, who had been on an extended second-team trial.

Both sides are missing five players to the Hundred, but Glamorgan also opted to rest the busy Timm van der Gugten along with veterans Colin Ingram and Chris Cooke, with Zain ul Hassan away on paternity leave, teenage talent Tom Norton sidelined for much of the event by a back problem, Jamie McIlroy carrying a minor issue, and Billy Root left out.

Sharma quickly found his rhythm by trapping Callum Nicholls lbw, yet with Byrom striking four boundaries, Glamorgan reached 44 before collapsing, losing wickets across six straight overs.

Sharma accounted for Henry Hurle (10) caught by keeper Joe Cracknell, Jack Hope-Bell taken at mid-off and Will Smale trapped lbw.

Meanwhile Roland-Jones had Byrom (29) and Dan Douthwaite edging to slip, with Sam Robson taking two sharp catches, while Alex Horton edged behind.

Roland-Jones bowled his full 10-over spell without a break, and Sharma was replaced after seven overs by Cornwell, who claimed the final three wickets as Cracknell ended with four catches.

The awkward bounce failed to justify the full extent of Glamorgan's difficulties against a precise seam attack.

After 20 runs came from a tense first over by O'Riordan, Josh de Caires launched Middlesex's reply at pace.

Captain Andy Gorvin removed himself after two overs to introduce Edwards, yet the 50 arrived inside six overs as De Caires and Nathan Fernandes batted with freedom.

Fernandes (14) drove Edwards to mid-on for the youngster's first senior wicket, and a second followed swiftly when Sam Robson was caught behind.

But De Caires (45 not out off 30) struck the winning run from the opening delivery of the 10th over to seal the emphatic win.

Middlesex next head to Worcester on Friday 31 July.

Glamorgan will face former England captain Ben Stokes at Durham on Wednesday, followed by away games against Derbyshire and Hampshire as they seek to restore confidence.
