Falconer discovered climbing at a wakeboarding park close to Narberth.

Her father, an enthusiastic wakeboarder, attempted to introduce her to the water, yet Falconer found the cold unappealing and instead went inside to the bouldering gym.

"I fell in love with it immediately," she remarked.

"Progress happens daily and it is truly rewarding to witness."

"It has required considerable effort, extensive gym training and climbing nearly every day."

Due to Falconer's commitment, Richard constructed a home gym where his daughter often trains into the early morning hours.

Although the sound of weights overhead disrupts sleep occasionally, Richard describes it as "a privilege" to support her.

"It involves significant responsibility and effort, but how could one not back this? She is accomplishing remarkable feats," he noted.

Richard, experienced in various fields including the military, states he has not encountered such dedication before.

"I have never had to say 'you need to do this, or you should work harder at this', it is all self-motivated," he explained.

Falconer's mother Anca passed away when Mary was only seven, leaving Richard to raise his grieving daughter alone.

"We invested much effort in resolving the issues, recreating our bond, returning to family holiday spots to reduce their emotional impact, yet some aspects remained unresolvable," he said.

"Sport provided her an outlet for expression and, in exchange, she received positive feedback from fellow climbers. It offered her something she could claim as her own, a sense of duty."

"Thus sports resolved the remaining 20% for Mary, providing focus, purpose, and directing her toward a path where, who knows, the Olympics - the possibilities are endless."
