Spain defender Marc Cucurella has fulfilled his commitment by getting a tattoo of World Cup-winning coach Luis de la Fuente.

Cucurella played a vital role in Spain securing the World Cup this month with a 1-0 victory over Argentina in the final.

Cucurella, who transferred to Real Madrid from Chelsea for £52m in June, showcased the tattoo - a portrait of De la Fuente grasping the World Cup alongside the number 26 - via social media.

"Promise kept," Cucurella noted with images and footage of the tattoo process.

After the final, De la Fuente mentioned he anticipated Cucurella would honor his pledge.

"I've already told them, 'did you make a mistake?'" he joked in his post-match news conference. "They did, but they'll enjoy it.

"I'm not so terribly ugly that they will need to put it somewhere nobody can see it. But it makes me laugh and I am proud they keep their promises."

Cucurella took his wife's pyjama top as a lucky charm during the World Cup, and recently mentioned he keeps his signature long, curly hair so his child can spot him easily during matches.
