Liverpool have announced that defenders Gemma Bonner and Gemma Evans will depart the club when the current season concludes.

Bonner led the Reds as captain to back-to-back Women's Super League championships in 2013 and 2014 during her second stint with the team.

At 34 years old, she holds Liverpool's record for most appearances in the WSL era with 186 matches and is widely regarded as a club icon.

The Kirkby Academy features a dressing room named in her honor, and she scored a standout brace in Liverpool's thrilling 4-3 win against Chelsea back in May 2024.

Injuries limited her involvement this campaign, restricting her to only 10 outings under head coach Gareth Taylor.

Wales international Evans arrived from Manchester United in 2024 and has racked up 38 appearances for the side.

The 29-year-old contributed significantly to the team's run to consecutive FA Cup semi-finals.

Reports from BBC Sport last week indicated that Championship outfit Newcastle United are negotiating a deal for Evans.
