Chester-le-Street: Durham 377 defeat Derbyshire 118 and 237 by an innings and 22 runs

Matthew Potts records a season best 8-66. Durham extend their commanding position at the top of Division Two.

Durham 21 points, Derbyshire 2 points.

As Livingstone settles with boundaries off his pads and down the ground from Hasan, the rules on England selecting players during a match are clarified at Romeo request under section 1.3.1.

A replacement player is permitted immediately if a cricketer in a Rothesay County Championship match must join England, England Lions or England U19 teams, whether called up after the start or placed on standby beforehand. The replacement may bat or bowl subject to ECB approval. If the original player is at the crease they retire not out and the substitute may bat later if approved. After several close calls Hasan claims his man. Jennings advances down the pitch and is taken down the leg side by a diving Benjamin. The vital breakthrough for Kent - Lancashire 162-3. Jennings departs for 61 and the stand between the county big two ends after 104 runs. Hasan has taken all three wickets so far.

Warm applause greets the hundred partnership from 140 balls. Jennings and Harris exchange handshakes. Hasan continues to test Jennings.

Hasan strikes quickly as Jennings edges just short of slip and the ball races into the press tent. Jennings then misses several deliveries in succession. He has yet to regain his timing and Hasan immediately makes the ball move. A fine signing for Kent.

95 balls and more than a session of intense focus. He lifts his bat briefly to acknowledge the crowd his fifth fifty of the season though a century remains elusive. The row of green portaloos at the far end stand in quiet approval.

The other Parky (C) breaks through at Durham as nightwatch Nick Potts is bowled for 42 ending an 84-run stand with Harry Came who is 90 not out. Derbyshire 192-5 trail Durham by 67.

At Stanley Park a loud appeal by twin brother Matt against Jennings goes unanswered by the umpire.

A partnership of 68 for the brothers Rew

Jordan Cox withdrawn from Essex match to join England

Following Henry Crocombe call-up from Sussex yesterday the ECB withdraw Jordan Cox from Essex game against Leicestershire as cover for Jamie Smith whose wife expects their second child. Michael Pepper replaces him in the Essex side.

Roundup: Stokes warms up as Durham run rings round Derbyshire

Ben Stokes trained with Durham on Saturday after omission from England second Test squad against New Zealand for breaching curfew. Stokes and Surrey Gus Atkinson also overlooked were involved in an incident with a Saracens rugby player in a London nightclub after England first Test win at Lord s. Durham coach Ryan Campbell said any decision on Stokes playing against Northants on Friday rests with the player and ECB but a spot would be found.

Stokes bowled in the middle and later batted in the nets while Durham dominated Derbyshire who followed on after dismissal for 118 with five wickets for Kasey Aldridge. They reached 99 for four at stumps Matthew Potts the main threat still 160 behind.

At Hove James Coles reached a superb 224 not out a maiden double century full of fine strokes including 11 sixes. He and Jaydev Unadkat added 103 for the last wicket frustrating Glamorgan. Sussex lost Henry Crocombe called up by England as cover for Ollie Robinson needing a knee scan. Dom Goodman replaced him.

The Blackpool tower seemed to hide its eyes as Lancashire were bowled out for 87 by Kent. Keith Dudgeon took six for 21 while Bangladesh Hasan Mahmud on Kent debut took three for 32. Kent replied strongly with an unbeaten century from Chris Benjamin and 83 from Harry Finch.

Somerset ended a productive day at Trent Bridge with a 190-run lead. Four wickets for Lewis Gregory and three for Jack Leach dismissed Nottinghamshire for 193. Fergus O Neill finished with career best six for 72 as Somerset last three wickets added 16.

Leicestershire took Essex last five wickets for 58 yet still followed on at Grace Road. Jordan Cox fell for 204 then Leicestershire were 187 all out with Charlie Bennett and Simon Harmer taking three each only Nick Kelly (78) resisting. Sheridon Gumbs on debut reached 22 opening as Leicestershire closed 51 without loss second innings.

While carnival floats passed Wantage Road James Bracey (72) and Graeme van Buuren (75 not out) rescued Gloucestershire from 56 for four with a stand of 148. New Zealand Kristian Clarke took six for 109 on Gloucestershire debut.
