Britain's Joe Joyce is poised to step back into the boxing ring after more than twelve months away, taking on undefeated Russian heavyweight Artem Suslenkov for the WBA Continental title in Moscow on 11 July.

At the age of 40, Joyce has not fought since suffering a unanimous decision defeat to Filip Hrgovic for the vacant WBO international heavyweight title back in April 2025.

The 2016 Olympic silver medalist has endured four defeats in his previous five contests, with his most recent win coming against Kash Ali during March 2024.

Following the loss to Hrgovic, promoter Frank Warren indicated that Joyce would need to give serious consideration to his future in the sport.

Nevertheless, the fighter, who holds a professional record of 16 victories and four defeats, has revealed he has dedicated the last year to preparation and training in anticipation of his return.

"I am thrilled about the chance to head to Russia and compete for the WBA Continental heavyweight title on July 11," Joyce stated.

"I appreciate the opportunity from IBA Pro. My team and I are fully focused, and Moscow can expect an impressive showing from me."
