Sophie Unwin and her pilot Jenny Holl defended their road race crown as Great Britain collected 18 medals with three golds at the 2026 UEC Para-cycling Road European Championships in Italy.

Unwin, who competes with a visual impairment, and Holl captured road race gold at the 2024 Paris Paralympics along with the individual pursuit crown on the track.

The duo placed second in Friday's time trial, finishing just 0.75 seconds behind Ireland's Katie-George Dunlevy and Linda Kelly.

They turned the tables in Sunday's road race by narrowly defeating Dunlevy and Kelly along with the second Irish tandem of Sinead Greenan and Alice Sharpe.

Unwin and Holl will compete separately at next month's Commonwealth Games, with Unwin riding for England alongside new pilot Sylvia Misztal while Holl joins Team Scotland.

The pair plan to team up again for September's Para-cycling Road World Cup in Huntsville, Alabama.

Crystal Lane-Wright also struck gold by defeating teammate Morgan Newberry in the women's C5 time trial before earning bronze in the road race, while Amelia Cass won the C2 event and collected silver in the road race.
