Football Australia chair Anter Isaac has downplayed worries about the disputed World Cup privatization initiative led by Gianni Infantino ahead of a gathering of Asian confederation leaders in Tokyo this week.

Isaac's comments arrive as global support rebounds for the challenged Fifa president, who once seemed unlikely to retain his position after critiques from European and North American officials.

The Swiss attorney now has support from South America, Africa and increasing parts of Asia, forming a group sufficient to secure victory in March's Fifa presidential election.

Continental leaders are gathering in Tokyo this week for the Asian Football Confederation congress. Fifa's leadership and governance are not on the official agenda but will be discussed along with the possibility of January's Asian Cup in Saudi Arabia proceeding.

Isaac, Australia's top football official, addressed the Fifa situation in an episode of a lesser-known sports business YouTube channel earlier this month, which has garnered under 200 views.

"We can view it simplistically and call it a mess," he said on Beyond the Game with Dillon and Rafael. "Or we can adopt a more accountable, grown-up perspective and recognize these as growing pains."

Isaac highlighted that Fifa's income has surged in recent World Cup periods, and "systems and processes" may not have matched the growth. He insisted that those in football always act with the sport's best interests in mind.

"Perhaps approaches are not always aligned, but everyone in football truly desires that outcome. In my experience and interactions, there is no doubt about it. So where has misalignment occurred? It might be in methods, communications and similar areas."

FA's prior statement on the disputed Fifa Forward Enterprise (FFE) proposal from August sought "clear and credible action" without demanding Infantino's resignation.

This aligned with a letter signed by Asian Football Confederation president Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa calling for Fifa "leadership that serves football, not seeks to command it".

Since then, Salman seems to have moderated his opposition to Infantino, advocating for improved Fifa governance as more Asian countries like Qatar and the UAE back the president.

Isaac noted that critics of organizations like Fifa, AFC and Uefa often lack insider knowledge.

"With the same limited information as most critics or the public, I would likely reach similar conclusions. However, I possess more details and observe additional internal developments," he said.

"Reflecting on Fifa and major football institutions, I recognize substantial unseen efforts by them, confederations and our association in aiding stakeholders, particularly those requiring the most support."

Uefa sent a letter to Fifa this week requesting explanations on the proposed 20% commercial rights sale under the abandoned FFE, the Folarin Balogun matter and ties with Donald Trump.

This follows last week's Fifa council meeting in Zurich, the first since FFE emerged. Infantino heard questions but avoided full responses, requesting written questions for the next meeting in Doha on 16 December.

Isaac deemed it "premature" to discuss supporting Infantino in next year's election. He has personal views but avoids public criticism, seeing issues as mainly procedural.

"I am encouraged that focus across the board is now on process, aiming to identify improvements for the future. We will formalize these to prevent recurrence of similar situations."
