England coach Brian McDermott has kept the same 19-man squad for Saturday's Rugby League World Cup match against France.

This comes after a 30-12 loss to Tonga in the opening fixture that has placed England's semi-final hopes at risk.

AJ Brimson holds his spot at full-back in the starting XIII, while Jack Welsby features among the replacements.

McDermott maintains trust in his group ahead of the Group B-C game in Perth, which kicks off at 07.35 BST.

England men: AJ Brimson, Dom Young, Hugo Savala, Herbie Farnworth, Zach Eckersley, George Williams, Harry Smith, Max King, Brad O'Neill, Luke Thompson, Junior Nsemba, Kai Pearce-Paul, Victor Radley.

Interchange: Jez Litten, Ben Currie, Ethan Havard, Sam Walters, Jack Welsby, Matty Ashton.

Reserves: Kallum Watkins, Mikey Lewis, Ben Talty.

Unlike McDermott, England women's coach Stuart Barrow has introduced major selection adjustments before their key match with co-hosts Australia on Saturday.

Jenna Foubister starts at half-back in place of Georgia Roche after an excellent Super League campaign that saw her named Woman of Steel.

The 19-year-old, who scored on her debut during a 62-0 win over Wales in August 2025, will pair with Izzy Rowe in the halves.

Rowe crossed for two tries and added nine conversions for 26 points as England began their World Cup with a 70-6 victory against Wales last Saturday.

She matched the record for the highest individual points total by an England player in a Women's World Cup match.

Two further changes to the XIII see Molly Jones come in for Georgia Wilson in the centres, while Liv Wood starts at prop instead of Mary Coleman.

Lucie Sams is included among the replacements as England face the defending champions Australia in Perth, with kick-off at 10.05 BST right after the men's game.

This marks the first meeting between England and Australia since their record 90-4 defeat in Las Vegas during March 2025.

England women: Fran Goldthorpe, Anna Davies, Molly Jones, Connie Boyd, Amelia Brown, Izzy Rowe, Jenna Foubister, Liv Wood, Keara Bennett, Hollie-Mae Dodd, Jasmin Strange, Eva Hunter, Megan Williams.

Interchange: Jodie Cunningham, Vicky Whitfield, Georgia Roche, Lucie Sams.

Reserves: Mary Coleman, Georgia Wilson, Lucy Murray.

Wales take on Samoa in their second World Cup match on Friday at 07:45 BST, and coach Thomas Brindle has made multiple alterations.

Amberley Ruck comes in for Ffion Lewis, with Zoe Heeley shifting from centre to the wing.

Jade Mullen enters the centres, and wing Sian Williams also earns a starting place.

Wales women: Leanne Burnell, Zoe Heeley, Jade Mullen, Hannah Bluck, Sian Williams, Amberley Ruck, Tayla Preston, Agnes Wood, Jasmine Gibbons, Emily Hughes, Georgia Cussons, Paige Travis, Bethan Dainton.

Interchange: Carys Marsh, Kathryn Salter, Erin Williams, Gracie Hobbs.

Reserves: Ffion Lewis, Lucia Davies, Frances Layton, Katie Carr.
