Sometimes standout college football uniforms stand out for their simple elegance. Other times they shine through lively and daring designs.

This week Coastal Carolina chose the bold route with plenty of added flair.

On Friday evening the Chanticleers will wear retro 1990s inspired uniforms packed with color and fine details. A graffiti style nameplate? Of course. Confetti accents and multicolored triangles across the jersey base? Absolutely. The design blends teal pink and bright green with yellow for an eye catching result that evokes the Fresh Prince of Bel Air theme.

One notable fact has nothing to do with the uniforms themselves. Coastal Carolina did not field a football team in the 1990s. The Chanticleers began play in 2003.

Although Coastal Carolina offers the boldest choice many other programs will wear crisp looks this weekend. Here are the top college football uniforms for Week 7.

Cal

One of the most creative uniform tributes this season comes from Cal which will honor the Grateful Dead. The Golden Bears helmets will include several band themed touches including the script Cal wordmark inside a skull emblem a center stripe with a lightning bolt and a back bumper featuring the iconic dancing bears.

Boston College

Boston College will keep its usual maroon and gold colors but add special details for a fresh twist. Soar High will appear on the jersey collar an alternate eagle head will mark the shoulders and the interlocking BC logo will return on the golden pants.

UTEP

UTEP will use a helmet with an alternate running miner logo. Fans voted on the choice and selected the Paydirt Pete design for the Week 7 game against San Jose State.

Utah

Utah is sticking with what works. After debuting an icy white look with a snow themed helmet and defeating Kansas 41 to 24 the Utes will wear the all white ensemble again this week against Colorado.

Kentucky

Kentucky continues to mix uniform combinations under first year head coach Will Stein. This Saturday the Wildcats will pair a black helmet and pants with their classic white and blue jerseys.
