The clinical All Blacks dismantled the Wallabies in their last home Test of the season, overpowering them 43-21 in Sydney. This latest heavy defeat follows another thrashing just days earlier and casts serious doubt on Australia's hopes for the 2027 World Cup.

New Zealand dominated at the breakdown, keeping the ball moving swiftly and creating space almost at will. They disrupted nearly every Australian attacking move, capitalizing on mistakes and poor execution from the hosts.

Wallabies captain Harry Wilson spoke plainly after the 13th consecutive loss to their rivals across the Tasman. "It's not good enough for this group, we've got to be a lot better," he said to Channel Nine.

"We've got to start better. We had a terrible second half in the first game. We had a terrible first half this game. We can't be having terrible halves against the All Blacks. In the second half, we showed a bit of grit, but it's too late, mate. We can't be that far behind."

Two tries after the break narrowed the gap slightly, yet the overall result left little room for optimism. The scale of the loss forces a reassessment of Australia's standing before the home World Cup. Once seen as genuine contenders with home advantage, Les Kiss's side now appear far from serious challengers and more like entertaining underdogs.

The past fortnight has brought sharp disappointment to Australian rugby fans following early signs of progress under Kiss. Any forward momentum has vanished, leaving the team sliding backward.

Kiss delivered a blunt verdict on the opening 40 minutes. "There's got to be a little bit more thinking about what it really means to actually turn up in that first half and make sure we don't make those errors that we did," he said. "It's just not acceptable what was put out there."

One lasting moment from the afternoon came with Josh Moorby's second try. A dummy overhead pass deceived Max Jorgensen and Ryan Lonergan, leaving the pair frozen as the All Blacks winger strolled over untouched.

Before kickoff, much attention centered on fly-half Declan Meredith. He produced two strong contributions after the interval, including a near-try created by substitutes Angus Bell and Josh Canham, plus a sharp counter from Tom Wright's short dropout. Still, individual reviews felt secondary after a contest effectively decided by halftime despite a promising start.

New Zealand made a late adjustment when Jordie Barrett withdrew with calf tightness. His absence grew more noticeable when Quinn Tupaea departed early after a head knock.

Joseph-Aukuso Suaalii, restored to outside centre, combined well early with Wright and Jorgensen, who twice exploited space on the right. Yet an attacking move from a lineout fell short when the final pass hit the ground despite clear opportunities for Harry Potter and Wright.

Failure to convert early territory proved costly as the All Blacks struck at the opposite end. Wright and Potter made try-saving tackles, but New Zealand shifted the ball wide and Moorby scored in the corner.

The Wallabies continued to waste chances, as seen when Fraser McReight spilled the ball at an attacking lineout. Seconds later Beauden Barrett finished a fine midfield break from Peter Lakai, created by Damian McKenzie.

Three phases after the restart the All Blacks were back on the line, their ruck speed overwhelming. Lakai crossed again soon after. A box kick from Lonergan went too long, allowing easy clearance, then Australia lost the lineout. Rieko Ioane dotted down in the corner to make it 22-0.

The home crowd finally had reason to cheer when Meredith sent Jeremy Williams over. The moment proved fleeting as Williams received a yellow card for offside. From the scrum base Wallace Sititi scored to restore the pattern. A Barrett intercept try from a Jorgensen pass, converted by McKenzie, sent the teams to the break at 36-7.

After Moorby's clever dummy early in the second half, the Wallabies bench slowed the flow. Jorgensen, Wright and Potter combined for Australia's second try, while Filipo Daugunu crossed following quick thinking from Meredith and Wright. The game wound down as Harry McLaughlin-Phillips entered for his debut.

The clean sweep of the Bledisloe Cup offers New Zealand some consolation after their 3-1 series loss to South Africa. Achieving this result despite injuries to captain Ardie Savea, top fly-halves Ruben Love and Richie Mo'unga, and centre Jordie Barrett reinforces their status as leading challengers to the Springboks at the World Cup. Securing the win at Accor Stadium, a key venue for the tournament, adds further weight.

The inconsistent Wallabies face four Tests in Europe during 2026 before a long break. Following this display, anticipation for their first match of 2027, again against the All Blacks on Anzac Day, appears limited.
