Yet it remains uncertain if leaders and officials will proceed. Likely they will not, leaving challenges for German automakers and linked Czech and German supply chains to intensify."

Seznam Zprávy notes the Czech Republic serves as a low-cost production site for Volkswagen yet expresses concern over reliance on the troubled German group:

"Much of Czech manufacturing, especially Škoda, hinges on Volkswagen. Škoda Auto ranks among top employers there, and even with wages above local norms, costs stay well below those at German VW sites. Certain Wolfsburg lines build Golf models that rival the Škoda Octavia in price and buyers, yet higher expenses there cut into margins per car."

Pravda warns the VW strain will soon reach the Czech Republic and Slovakia:

"Slovakia's concerns that Porsche Cayenne output at the Bratislava plant might move to Leipzig have not occurred, so residents in the capital and Mladá Boleslav can remain at ease for now. Reductions will arrive however as the firm contends with difficulties. For Slovakia this serves as a single message: seek other paths. Continued heavy focus on autos, given both nations lead in vehicles per person, risks severe fallout. Time grows short."
