Despite the disputed US-Iran Memorandum of Understanding, ongoing clashes in the Strait of Hormuz, and Tehran's reluctance to give up its uranium stockpile, Sylvan Adams remains sure that President Donald Trump understands Iran's deceptive strategies and has structured the deal so it does not restrict future US actions against Iranian goals.

Recent events supported his view. We interviewed Adams shortly before fresh US-Iran clashes broke out in a back-and-forth pattern that raised new questions about the shaky agreement and ongoing talks.

During a wide-ranging discussion, Adams covered Trump's Iran policy, a coordinated global antisemitism drive backed by Israel's foes, and his positive outlook overall.

On the US-Iran standoff, Adams noted that the MoU looks poor on paper. It concedes on points Trump had long opposed and gives the regime an economic boost that hurts the Iranian people, especially after earlier promises of support.

Yet a closer reading reveals useful elements. Unlike the prior JCPOA, this is a staged deal with clear checkpoints. After the June 17 signing, a 60-day window opened for talks on a lasting nuclear framework, IAEA oversight, uranium handling, and related topics. Many points remain unresolved. The pact can extend another 60 days past the August 17 deadline, wrapping up by October 17 just before US midterms.

Adams believes Trump treats the MoU as a practical swap where Iran gains funds for allowing Hormuz traffic in return for reduced oil prices. The deal gave Trump breathing room and lowered oil costs toward pre-conflict levels. He achieved his aims while making only minor allowances for daily and monthly Iranian oil shipments. The blockade lifted in exchange for safe commercial passage.

This amounts to a short-term Hormuz arrangement. With massive infrastructure losses already suffered, the limited waivers will barely ease the regime's economic woes. Trump seeks to avoid Republican setbacks in the midterms and prefers calm plus lower fuel costs until voting ends. Adams warns that Iran misreads the president and risks angering him with attempts to dominate the situation.

After the 120-day period and midterms, if Iran fails to meet terms, the US can restart Operation Economic Fury. That campaign followed military strikes on oil exports, shipping, banks, and fronts, plus a naval blockade. Iran has never dropped its nuclear aims under heavy pressure, so renewed sanctions could prove effective again.

Adams stresses that only regime change can halt Iran's nuclear drive and hostile actions. External forces cannot deliver it. Support, including arms and organization, can help, but Iranians themselves must lead on the ground.

Adams described the post-October 7 surge in antisemitism as a long-planned, funded global effort by Israel's adversaries that activated after the Hamas attacks. Qatar and the Muslim Brotherhood triggered it the next day, viewing the moment as ripe for harming Jews. It was neither sudden nor natural.

A Foundation for Defense of Democracies report showed Qatar spent over 400 billion dollars in the US since 2000. The Qatar Foundation International gave at least 8 million dollars to American public schools since 2010 and 62.4 billion dollars to universities since 1981. Adams said the goal was not better education or health but influence. The Brotherhood and Qatari backers targeted elite campuses to shape student views. Coordinated tent protests after October 7, using identical brands and colors, showed prior planning. Qatar works with Erdogan, funding his antisemitic activities.

Other actors joined, including Iran, Hezbollah operatives, and China via TikTok messaging. Jews are not the end target. Israel and Jews come first, but the aim is to upend Western life through a foreign campaign. The West must recognize this push to remove Jews before seeking broader domination and loss of freedoms.

Despite these challenges, Adams sees Israel in a stronger position than three years ago. On October 6, Hezbollah held over 120,000 missiles aimed at Israel, Iran raced toward nuclear arms, and Hamas fired daily into the south. Now Hamas is beaten, Hezbollah weakened, and Iran set back from immediate nuclear risk. Military successes after the October 7 failures show the right course. Regime change in Iran would transform the region. Ties with new Gulf partners have grown, and a wider peace wave may be near.
