A suspect was taken into custody in Paris after injuring three people using kitchen knives, according to police statements released on Monday.

The event unfolded close to Place de Clichy, with authorities noting that the victims received hospital care.

French Interior Minister Laurent Nunez informed journalists that all three victims were female.

The suspect targeted the women, aged 19, 24 and 36, using two kitchen knives and causing serious harm to two while lightly injuring the third, Nunez reported.

Off-duty officer intervenes to detain attacker

The minister noted that an off-duty police officer had secured the suspect. "I commend his bravery in this situation," Nunez stated.
