Mark Carney Voices Horror at Shooting Victims

Prime Minister Mark Carney said he was horrified by the shooting and offered full support to police in catching those responsible, according to a post on X.

My prayers are with the families mourning their loved ones, those in critical condition, and everyone affected by this terrible event, he wrote.

My thanks go to the police officers and first responders whose quick action and courage stopped further tragedy, he added.

Ontario Premier Doug Ford posted that he was devastated by the senseless violence.

Ford added that the person behind the shooting must be caught, brought to justice, and spend the rest of their life behind bars.

Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow posted that she was disgusted and angered by the shooting.

This was a reckless, despicable act of violence at a crowded festival, she said. I will ensure Toronto Police have every resource they need to find those responsible, and they will keep working around the clock to get guns off our streets.

She also offered condolences and thanked police and first responders for their rapid response.
