A Norwegian teenager journeyed to Britain intending to carry out a contract killing in exchange for payment, after being recruited by a Swedish organized crime network reportedly acting on behalf of the Iranian government, British prosecutors stated in a London court on Wednesday.

Johannes Natland, now aged 19, was detained in a hotel room in Huddersfield in northern England during March of last year while in possession of two firearms along with ammunition, prosecutor Alistair Richardson informed London's Old Bailey Court.

"He had been enlisted by an organization known as the Foxtrot Network under an arrangement whereby he would receive money to travel here and execute a hit," Richardson explained.

"The network responsible for recruiting him, the Foxtrot Network, operates as a Swedish criminal syndicate employed by the Iranian regime."

Natland rejects the accusation of conspiracy to murder an unidentified individual.

Richardson informed the jury that Natland had already admitted guilt in October to charges involving possession of a semi-automatic pistol, a revolver, and live rounds.

"We cannot identify the intended target of the defendant, yet messages from him and others, together with statements he made to Norwegian associates prior to departing, make it evident that this was his intention," he noted.

The communications revealed that an individual using the username 'Agent 47' held a leadership position. In exchanges with another party regarding the procurement of an assassin, Agent 47 indicated a sum of 25,000 euros was available, Richardson added.

He explained to the court that the initial candidate selected for the killing had developed reservations, prompting the group to approach Natland instead.

"This killing required completion," Richardson stated.

The trial is ongoing.
