A 21-year-old Israeli was taken into custody in Cyprus on Wednesday on charges of attempted murder following the alleged stabbing of three individuals.

The confrontation took place outside a nightclub located on Louka Louka Street in the popular resort area of Ayia Napa at approximately 4:30 a.m.

Another Israeli man, aged 22 and a companion of the main suspect, suffered injuries and was also detained due to his possible role in the event.

Investigators from the Famagusta District Police determined that the pair of Israelis had an argument with a local Cypriot youth. Security personnel from the adjacent venue attempted to intervene and separate those involved, at which time the 21-year-old reportedly pulled out a knife and stabbed the three men.

The 25-year-old security guard received a stab wound to the abdomen and required urgent surgery; his condition remains serious yet stable, with reports indicating he is no longer in immediate danger. The other security guard, who is 41, was stabbed in the leg. The Cypriot youth sustained injuries as well.

The 22-year-old Israeli received wounds to his head and face amid the fight.

Authorities collected a knife from the site as evidence. Upon the arrival of police at the scene, the primary suspect directed insults toward the officers, resulting in an extra charge of disturbing public order and insulting public officials. The court in Paralimni prolonged his detention period by eight days, while inquiries continue.

Ayia Napa, a favored vacation spot in Cyprus, is recognized for its lively nightlife scene alongside occasional episodes of violence connected to visitors.

Authorities in Cyprus have not provided additional information about any possible motive at this time.
