Hungarian opposition party Fidesz claims prosecutors raided its office

The Tisza Party's plan to eliminate Fidesz and with it the resistance to tyranny through political means has failed, the post read.

The Hungarian opposition party Fidesz stated on Tuesday in a Facebook post that the national prosecutor's office had carried out a raid on its premises.

The message declared that efforts by the Tisza Party to remove Fidesz along with its opposition to authoritarian rule had not succeeded through political channels. As a result, the Tisza Party has shifted to legal measures aimed at disabling Fidesz, according to the statement.

Fidesz alleged that prosecutors sought to confiscate the party's full communication infrastructure and all databases during the operation.

The party vowed to resist any political or legal pressure and pledged to continue opposing the Tisza Party without compromise.

Such an action has not occurred in Hungary since the conclusion of communist rule in 1990, the post added.

Hungary president concludes term as head of state

Hungarian President Tamas Sulyok approved a constitutional change on Saturday that was enacted by Prime Minister Peter Magyar's governing Tisza party and brought his time in office to a close, according to a statement from Sulyok.

The measure formed part of Magyar's campaign to dismantle power structures left by former prime minister Viktor Orban, following what Magyar described as a clear voter mandate after defeating the right-wing leader in an April election victory.

Sulyok indicated he was required to endorse the law because it followed legal requirements, yet the former Constitutional Court judge cautioned that the changes had damaged Hungary's adherence to rule-of-law principles.
