British far-right commentator Milo Yiannopoulos was sent back to the United Kingdom, according to a Department of Homeland Security spokesperson on Saturday.

The removal on Friday followed his arrest the day before at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport by Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers. A DHS spokesperson noted that he "chose to remain beyond his permitted period in violation of immigration regulations" after entering the country legally during May 2019.

Yiannopoulos, who advocated stricter immigration measures beyond those implemented by the Trump administration, such as ICE checkpoints at grocery store entrances, missed an immigration hearing and received a final removal order on July 22, per DHS records.

Yiannopoulos could not be reached immediately for comment.

The celebrity news outlet TMZ.com, which first reported his arrest, indicated that Yiannopoulos, who maintains close connections to the rapper Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, was in New Orleans ahead of the musician's scheduled performance there on Friday night.

Yiannopoulos publicly backed mass deportation initiatives

Yiannopoulos actively supported Donald Trump in the 2016 campaign and frequently promoted anti-Islamic and anti-immigrant views.

In a June 2025 post on the social media platform X, he stated: "We have got to deport millions and millions and millions of people. Without that, nothing else matters."
